The line between healing and control has never been so thin. And someone intends to cross it.

When an unthinkable nanotech project goes dark inside a Cypriot defense lab, a ruthless CEO sets his sights on neuroscientist Dr. Lylia Turner, and on turning her life’s work into a weapon. From an Alpine research station to high rooms in Paris and a volatile summit in Geneva, Lylia must decrypt her husband James’s hidden investigation and stop a deadly operation before a dangerous hacking tech is unleashed on a global stage.

ABOUT THE BOOK

She was trying to cure minds. Now someone wants to control them.

Dr. Lylia Turner built her career on the cutting edge of neuroscience, rewiring the emotional centers of the brain to heal trauma. But when her husband dies under mysterious circumstances, and her research draws the attention of powerful global entities, Lylia finds herself pulled into a world where science is just another battlefield, and minds are the prize.

As her prototypes vanish and old allies shift into shadows, Lylia must navigate a maze of hidden agendas, encrypted secrets, and haunting memories that refuse to stay buried. Her mother’s descent into cognitive collapse once taught her what obsession can cost. Now, that lesson may be the only thing keeping her from following the same path.

From storm-swept safe houses in Canary Wharf, London to the icy labs of Geneva and the sunlit deception of Cyprus, Spy in My Bed is a razor-wire blend of scientific intrigue, psychological tension, and high-stakes espionage. For fans of Orphan X, Black Mirror, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, this gripping thriller explores the dark side of genius, and what it takes to stay human when even your emotions can be hacked.

The line between healing and control has never been so thin. And someone intends to cross it. Perfect for fans of globe-trotting technothrillers with heart, high-stakes espionage, and a slow burn through grief into grit.

Smart Science Fiction Thriller

Turner demonstrates impressive knowledge of both nanotechnology and espionage tradecraft. Lylia's character development is the book's strongest element - watching her evolve from isolated scientist to capable agent feels authentic and earned. The betrayals by trusted mentors hit particularly hard. The underground base sequence was genuinely claustrophobic and tense. My only minor critique is that some of the technical exposition could have been trimmed, but the payoffs are worth it. A strong debut that promises even better things to come.

Technology Meets Heart

This novel succeeds because it never forgets the human element amid all the high-tech intrigue. Lylia's emotional journey from orphan to warrior to martyr (in the metaphorical sense) provides the backbone for an exciting plot. The romantic subplot with Dr. Martinez adds warmth without slowing the pace. Harrison Wolfe is properly menacing without being cartoonish. The ethical questions about technology and power feel relevant to our current moment. Highly recommended for fans of intelligent thrillers.

Gripping from Start to Finish

What impressed me most about this novel is how it balances multiple elements - scientific intrigue, personal tragedy, romantic subplot, and international conspiracy - without any feeling shortchanged. Lylia's journey from victim to victor is compelling and believable. The supporting characters each bring something unique to the story. Harrison Wolfe makes for a memorable villain with clear but twisted motivations. The resolution feels both surprising and inevitable. A excellent debut that establishes Turner as a talent to watch.

Edge-of-Your-Seat Espionage

This book grabbed me from the opening chapter and never let go. The blend of personal tragedy and international conspiracy creates genuine tension throughout. I loved how Lylia's character arc mirrors the classic hero's journey while staying fresh and contemporary. Max Russo is the perfect ally - capable but not overshadowing the protagonist. The betrayals feel earned rather than shocking for shock's sake. My only complaint is that I wanted more of the supporting characters, especially Clara Bennett.

Modern Espionage at Its Best

Turner updates the classic spy thriller for the modern age with cutting-edge technology and contemporary threats. Lylia Turner is a fantastic protagonist - brilliant, determined, and thoroughly human. The support cast adds depth without cluttering the narrative. The pacing builds expertly through each act, with genuine surprises and satisfying revelations. The ethical questions about scientific responsibility feel particularly relevant. This is the kind of intelligent, character-driven thriller the genre needs more of.
