As someone who devours both historical fiction and romance, this book was absolutely perfect for me. Price's research into Inca civilization is evident on every page, from the religious practices to the architectural details. The Sun God's Heart isn't just a MacGuffin - it has real cultural and historical significance that makes the quest feel meaningful. Add in the sizzling chemistry between Cassidy and Raven, and you have a winner. Already pre-ordered 'Eye of Ra'!
This book hit me right in the feels! Cassidy's journey isn't just about finding an ancient artifact - it's about understanding her heritage and her mother's choices. The way Price weaves the past and present together is masterful. Dr. Nina Reyes becomes a character in her own right through her journal entries, and her influence on both the plot and her daughter's growth is beautifully done. The romance is the perfect complement to this emotional journey.
What a ride! The pacing in this book is phenomenal - just when you think you have a moment to breathe, Price throws another twist or revelation at you. I loved the dual perspective between Cassidy and Raven, and the way their individual motivations slowly align. The jungle scenes are incredibly atmospheric, and the danger feels real. My only complaint is that I want more Professor Calderon - that man needs his own book!
Can we talk about how perfectly Cora Price executed the enemies-to-lovers trope? Raven starts as this mysterious, potentially dangerous rival, and watching him reveal his true character layer by layer was absolutely delicious. The moment when he gives Cassidy the rubies that belonged to her mother? I literally threw my Kindle down and squealed. This is exactly the kind of romantic tension I live for!
