This book hit me right in the feels! Cassidy's journey isn't just about finding an ancient artifact - it's about understanding her heritage and her mother's choices. Dr. Nina Reyes becomes a character in her own right through her journal entries, and her influence on both the plot and her daughter's growth is beautifully done. The romance is the perfect complement to this emotional journey.

It has all the elements we love: exotic locations, ancient mysteries, sexual tension you could cut with a knife, and two people who are perfect for each other but have to overcome both external threats and internal fears to be together. The Sun God's Heart itself is such a compelling MacGuffin - powerful enough to drive the plot but mysterious enough to keep you guessing. The blend of real history with mythical elements is seamless, and the action scenes are incredibly well-written. I could visualize every chase, every trap, every narrow escape. Plus, this is the first in a series, so we get to look forward to more adventures in the Heart & Treasure world! Already can't wait for "Eye of Ra" - that desert setting sounds amazing!
What a ride! The pacing in this book is phenomenal - just when you think you have a moment to breathe, Price throws another twist or revelation at you. I loved the dual perspective between Cassidy and Raven, and the way their individual motivations slowly align. The jungle scenes are incredibly atmospheric, and the danger feels real. My only complaint is that I want more Professor Calderon - that man needs his own book!
